Why are there four hemispheres of the world?

hemisphere means half a sphere. Since our planet is a sphere, it can be divided into two halves in two different ways. A horizontal line across the equator divides it into a northern and southern hemisphere. Similarly, a vertical line dissects it into an eastern and Western Hemisphere.
