What does it mean if you apologize to someone and they read your message but havent responded back?

How do you know if he/she read it yet if he/she hasn't responded? If you totally know that they have read it and didnt respond is, maybe they are still mad and dont want to talk about it. But, what more can you do after you apologize? Just wait and see what happens!
