Well, there are a few small sensor plates inside of an iphone... you can see one of them if you look down the headphone slot far enough. Once they get exposed to water, they turn pink/red and can't be turned white again. So... your warranty is now void. They'll look at those sensors when you bring the phone in and turn you down.
Now, if you can't afford a new iphone just yet and want to save this one you have, here's what you do. Put a half-inch of dry white rice in a tupperware container, along with 4 or 5 unopened packets of that gel selica stuff that comes in shoeboxes. Turn off your iphone and take off any case or skin on it, then lay it inside and close the lid. Leave it overnight. With a little luck, your phone will dry before there has been any corrosion to the battery.
