How did Marx think society should change?

Karl Marx wants the society to change by switching the capitalist economy with a communist economy. A economy where everything is publicly owned and people are paid according to their needs. With communism, Marx eliminated social classes and everyone was consider equal.

However his philosophy did not work and it turned out to be a disaster.
