What is the sum of 14 and twice a number y is equal to 78?

I actually just had this exact problem on a math assignment and it stumped me for a bit then it dawned on me 14+2y=78 or 2y+14=78 most teachers prefer the 2nd answer because the variable comes first. Hope this helps :)
