Can you become a gay

No, you are born that way. The age you are when you realize this can vary quite a bit. Some never figure it out and go through life never quite fitting in. Almost everyone is raised with the assumption that they are straight. Do to upbringing, being gay is something that some simply cannot concieve of. They may even have sexual encounters with the same sex but not identify as being gay.
