Are rally lawn mower transmissions interchangeable?

Transmissions are generally made by Peerless or Spicer (Dana Off-road Division of Foote) Not all but most.

Mostly they are not, but so many similarities exist that it could be possible. Internal ratiOS are the mystery as well as the belt guides outboard.
