Note: There are many sign Languages around the world. There are three primary types in the United states alone. The answer below is ASL (i.e American sign Language, or Ameslan), which is the broadest form of sign languages in the United States.
For "answer" it is a two-handed sign.
You take both hands in a 1 (one) handshape, and point them first at each side of the mouth, with closed palms facing each other; and then point them outward simultenously in the direction the answer is being directed. If it is just a general "answer", you move the hands outward toward the opposite direction from your dominant hand. If you are "answering" someone in a role-shift you direct the hands toward the role-shift (imaginary locale of the...) person being answered.
