Why are panda's important to the environment?

they aren't exactly important (unless you include Chinese predator delicacy D:), but they are endangered. they do clear out bamboo, but i don't think they put much of a dent in the population of bamboo. and even if they did, humans still clear out bamboo hundreds of times faster than pandas.
