Mount Aso, located in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, has a caldera that is approximately 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) wide. The caldera is one of the largest in the world and contains several volcanic peaks, with the most prominent being Mount Nakadake. The overall area of the caldera is about 114 square kilometers (44 square miles).
