An SQL server is any server that implements the Structured Query Language. SQL is the standard of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Organization for Standardization (iOS). It was developed by IBM in the 1970s. It appears the latest revision was made in 2014.
No one company manufactures SQL servers.
