Have the Democrats ever apologized for their role in going to war to keep and promote slavery?

No. They refuse to apologize as a party for this or for their genocide against the American Indians in an episode known as the Trail of Tears. Bill Clinton apologized about slavery for all of America and oddly included the Republican Party which had freed the slaves in his apology.
