What country makes morphine?

There are many countries which produce morphine, but a very very large amount of it is produced in Afghanistan.

In fact, the reason we don't inhibit the heroin trade by burning poppy fields over there (like we do with coca in Columbia, etc) is because we need Afghani farmers to grow poppies so that we can have painkillers for our hospitals over here. There is quite the morphine shortage in the world.
