How do you make waves in your hair?

you can put braids in your hair when its wet and then let it dry overnight but that makes it look more like crimped but you could try putting loose braids in it, otherwise i heard if you take all your hair, twist it and wrap it around in a bun when its damp NOT WET and then let it dry
