Why is it so much cooler in the summer in Ventura and in Oxnard than it is in Santa Paula or Ojai or Fillmore?

In contrast, Santa Paula, Ojai, and Fillmore are situated further inland, where they experience higher temperatures due to less coastal influence and more direct sunlight.
