Why do we not use Roman numerals?

Roman numerals are not commonly used today because they lack efficiency in representing large numbers and performing arithmetic operations. Their additive system can be cumbersome, making calculations tedious compared to the positional decimal system. Additionally, the modern numeral system offers greater clarity and ease of use, which is essential in today’s complex mathematical and scientific contexts. As a result, Roman numerals are mostly reserved for specific uses, like clock faces or certain cultural references.
