Does the Merlin falcon have any special features?

The merlin, or pigeon hawk, is a small to medium sized falcon that preys on small birds up to the size of pigeons. Often migrates down coastal flyways, and is a rare vagrant inland in the southeast. Breeds in Canada and northern US.
