Are snare traps illegal in NSW?

It depends on what is meant by "snare traps". Snare traps with sharp, bare-metal jaws are prohibited throughout Australia. Leg-hold padded-jaw traps are permitted for trapping foxes only if they are inspected daily, and are placed in areas where the trapped fox can be shot humanely and quickly. They may not be placed where there is danger of them impacting on native wildlife.
