There is a simple answer: Feudalism. Dish Network treats and entreats their employees like serfs. Strict adherence to dress code as meted by the founders wife; no t-shirts, no tennis shoes and so on. No overtime pay for extra work THAT IS IN THEIR CONTRACT, i.e. if you have to come in early to log onto your computer, you are not paid. No chance for advancement if you don't belong to the the Charlie Ergen clique.

The worst part is the conditions: no drinks on your work desk (can't drink Mountain Dew), late twice=fired, no questions asked, hand scans to enter work, drug testing, metrics incapable to follow, and just a hardline, Stalinist work ethic.

I quit when a fire went off in our area and the Main Supervisor, who was a friend I thought, said, "Get back to your desks! It's just a drill and get back to work!" Ten minutes later fireman rushed out the exit doors. That is the Dish Network ethos, much like the Triangle Shirt fire.

That day I quit and never thought of going back. This is a top down horrible place to work and glad I have seen the last of them.

I do wish Charlie Ergen would have been there that day of the fire. He could have been consumed...and given thousands consolation.
