Why does oil light come on and stay on even after fresh oil change and is full to the line on a 99 v-star 1100?

Hopefully it is just a short in the circuit or your oil light switch/sensor is stuck (in which case it maybe best to get a new one fitted), unfortunately it could mean a problem with the oil pump or a blockage in the system.. have it checked before you seize the motor!
