The American Girl Doll Julie is 10 years old (in 5th grade), in the time period of 1974. Subtract 10 from 1974 you get 1964. So that's when she was born. So today (2012) she would be 48!
Well as far as I know, it is unspecified. But the year has to be 1964 because her stories take place in 1974 and she is 9 in those stories
