What engine bolts to a vw 091 transmission I'm looking to do a swap in my vw van something like an inline 4 or small v6 nothing bigger than 3.0?

Any engine can bolt to it with an adapter plate and flywheel. Check out http://www.kennedyeng.com for options. The 091 transmission uses the same bolt pattern as all air cooled Volkswagen and some Porsche motors, as well as the Vanagon waterboxer. Unfortunately, only these engines are bolt on. All others would need to be adapted.
