Did Tecumseh have a wife

This is really controversial - some say the name of his first wife was unknown, but they had a child together, others say the name of his first wife was Mohnetohse and that they had a child named Mahyawwekawpawe.

Some also say he had a second wife, named Mamate, who died in childbirth giving his second (or first, depending on what you believe) son named Naythawaynah (while others say he was named Pachetha).

What we can almost determine for sure is that at least ONE of his children was brought up by his sister, Tecumapease.

HOWEVER, some say he had an AMERICAN/WHITE wife, named Rebecca Galloway, but that he decided not to marry her, or anyone else (for fear of heartbreak) after she told him she would not marry him at all unless he gave up fighting for the tribe and became an American citizen.

All in all, don't even ask. If you're writing a paper, just don't mention his wives, or just say he had a couple wives and a couple children. Be very, very, vague. xD
