Can you get car insurance in Canada with an international license?

You can but its expensive expect to pay around $400+ per month Ive been in Ontario 4weeks and the only place i could find is www.cooperators.ca.

I just found some insurance for $140 a month with Alberta Motor Association (AMA). I had to become a member but it was worth it! Only catch is I have to transfer to an Alberta licence within 90 days. Maybe there's a similar assoc. in Ontario?
