A chenopod [Chenopodium spp] is a flowering plant, within the AngiOSpermae division of the Plantaekingdom. It's within the Amaranthaceae family. So it's related to beets [Beta vulgaris] and spinach [Spinacia oleracea]. Its common name is 'goosefoot'. One of its best known and loved members is 'quinoa'. It may be found on any one of six of the seven continents. It isn't found on Antarctica.
