How to get Mew
These are ways you can get Mew in Pokémon: (please note this only includes the main Pokemon games, not spinoffs such as Mystery Dungeon)
- You can use a GameShark or Action Replay to catch Mews. This is cheating, but it works.
- In Pokémon Emerald, the event item 'Old Sea Map' will allow the player to encounter Mew. This item was only available in Japan the 2005 Pokémon Festa Event.
- In Generation IV (Diamond/Pearl and newer), Mew can be found in the Pal Park Forest area, available after receiving the National Pokédex.
- There is a glitch in Generation I (R/B/Y) that involves trainers noticing you, but you either fly or teleport out, specific guides can be found, see the related links below.
- The most obvious way to get a Mew would be to receive it from a trade.
There are some common 'myths' about being given Mew:
- The Game Freak employee will give you Mew after catching all other pokémon. This is incorrect, he will give you a diploma, for catching every pokémon.
- People saying releasing your pokémon as a step are lying, you will just end up with your pokémon being lost forever.
- [red rescue team] u get mew by getting the music box from the regis in buried relic and go2 floor 39 OR HIGHER but REMBER THIS MEW CAN USE TRANSFORM SO WACH UR MESSAGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
