Can you eat or drink black tar heroin?

let me start by saying i am no doctor or professional in this field but am fairly educated on the subject. obviously you "can" eat/drink heroine but it would not have neerly as much of its intended effect, whether you are using it for medical or illicit uses. some opiates/opioids are more suited for oral consumption than others for a number of reasons. when heroine(diamorphine) is consumed orally it undergoes extensive breakdown when it first passes through the liver as part of the digestive process. it would still have some effect depending on tolerance and sensetivity to heroine but not neerly as much as it could. this is why almost all heroine users start out snorting the drug and eventually almost all go onto injecting. basically for users the point is to get as much of the drug into your blood and ultimately your brain as possible, and to go through the digetive process first is greatly inefficient.
