Why do people walk backwards through a door?

It really depends on the person. Some people just open a door and tern around are just being silly. Most of the time when there putting there back on the door and then turning the doorknob while pushing there back to the door the doors probably jammed or if they are seeing if they need to run away for some reason so they don't have to turn around then run.
