Is it religiously wrong to abort babies?

According to many religious doctrines it is morally wrong to abort a foetus. However, religion is not the only view in this matter and the debate is widespread, especially with circumstances such as pregnancy through rape or very young mothers who would not be able to adequately care for the baby.
