It depends what age you are talking about when you say "kids". Elementary school aged kids (5-12) should just get out and play more. With the Video Games, television, and computers keeping them inside, weight loss is much more difficult to reach as compared to ten years ago. Kids this age naturally have endless energy, so getting out and playing tag with the neighbor's kids, swinging, hiking in the woods, and taking walks with mom and dad are great and simple ways to help them. Encouragement is also key, so be sure to make your child excited to go out and play in the sun!
For older children (12-17) it is a little more difficult. School does not have recess, so from six in the morning to about three in the afternoon your child is sitting, sitting, and sitting. The one little blip of PE they might have does not really cut it, and school-provided lunches are just salt, sugar, and fat. The first step to weight loss at this age is to bring their own healthy lunch (it is also less expensive than buying every day). If possible, have them walk to school, but only if its light out. Encourage them to do their absolute best in PE every day. Lastly, have them snack less and healthier at home and try to get regular exercise in their free time

If you want to lose weight then you can lose it. It is not hard if you try. If you are genuinely overweight, you are never too young to lose weight. If you are obese at a young age and listen to people who say "Oh! you are too young to be losing weight" and you agree with them then you are never going to lose weight. If you don't start trying to lose weight you never will lose weight. If you need to lose weight do it in a healthy way and do it now. It can be much harder to lose weight when you are older. However, if you don't lose weight in a healthy way can be dangerous.
If you want to lose weight you have to exercise. Exercise is very important. Cardio exercise is the best or any cardio sport or cardio activity. In addition to exercise, you need to change your eating habits and eat healthier foods. All you need is breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Don't starve yourself. If you are really hungry have a snack of vegetables to nibble on such as carrots or celery. Remember if you are overweight or obese you can lose weight now no matter what age all you need is daily exercise and a healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack.
