Why did many europeans celebrate cthe coming of world war 1?

2 reasons, 1. Like all wars before people thought it would be quick, lasting a few months at most. 2. It was called "The Great War" and "The War to End A'' Wars" for it was seen as a war that would finally decide the dominating powers in Europe as it involved all the major powers of Europe.
