Which diesel truck gets the best gas mileage?

I have been trying to find the answer to this for a long time. The best is the Volkwagon caddy from the early to mid 80's 45 mpg.

As far as full size trucks go the Dodge cummins manual transmission, single cab short bed seems to be the best.
