Why do egg whites on feet reduce fever?

There is only anecdotal evidence of egg whites reducing a fever. Of course that is normally all that can be said about any non-pharmaceutical or surgical treatment. There are many reports from individuals that this is an effective treatment. The Why is not researched; however, it may be as simple as placing a cool gel like liquid that is capable of absorbing heat and having a positive impact on body systems or at a guess may have something to do with the albumen found in egg white.
