All Fentanyl Patches (Duragesic or generics) are Transdermal in nature, meaning they are applied to the upper torso area and the drug is dispersed through a membrane via the skin. The dose is regulated by body heat.

Cutting the patch and ingesting the gel by any method is quick way to get yourself killed. Most people are not tolerant to the extremely massive dose of Fentanyl one would get if the patch were compromised - the dose is meant to be delivered steadily over a 48-72 hour period. Even extremely high tolerance patients like myself can be affected if body heat rises fast and the dosage regulation is increased. It's like being trapped in a loop you can't get out of - you know something is wrong, but are powerless to do anything about it unless someone recognizes you need help. Unchecked, in people with less tolerance Respiratory Arrest and heart failure will occur within minutes - if you're lucky. There are things worse than death.
