Is there a formula to determine baseball field fence height to equivalent distance a ball would have to travel to reach the fence?

My understanding is that the height of the wall should be equivilant to the subtracted length of the regulation home run distance; hence, if your wall is placed 30' short of the standard home run wall distance from the appex of home plate, the home run line should be located 30' vertically on a wall at that location.
