How is lightining cause?

Lightning is caused by the buildup of electrical charges within a storm cloud. As water droplets and ice particles collide within the cloud, they generate static electricity, creating regions of positive and negative charges. When the difference in charge becomes too great, a discharge occurs, resulting in a lightning bolt that travels between the cloud and the ground or within the cloud itself. This rapid discharge heats the surrounding air, causing the bright flash and thunder associated with lightning.
