How are weather data regarding upper air conditions obtained?

Upper air weather data is primarily obtained through the use of weather balloons, known as radiOSondes, which are launched from various locations around the world. These balloons carry instruments that measure temperature, humidity, pressure, and wind speed/direction as they ascend through the atmosphere. Additionally, satellites equipped with remote sensing technology provide valuable upper air data by capturing atmospheric profiles from space.
