Can you unfriend people on Facebook?

There are many ways to unfriend a people on Facebook . Either you can block them or by visiting their profile and clicking unfriend or by clicking your friend's list and on the extreme right just below the "Account button" click on "Edit friends", there you will see your friends besides each friend's name you will see "x" click on it.

you can easily also execute this choice and that is to unfriend most individuals without eliminating them. I did this due to the fact I don't want any news about them and on the same time I don't want them to realize that I removed them. so this is the only option I know..
