Are silicone wristbands safe for children?

Silicone wristbands are safe for children of an appropriate age. They would not be safe, for example, for a one-year old who puts everything in his/her mouth. But for an older child, they are just fine. Unless you have a child like mine that likes to use them like rubber bands to shoot at his sister...them maybe they are not so safe after all!
