Deer are literally born to die. Anything can kill a deer, including the following:
- Vehicles
- Hunters/poachers
- Starvation
- Dehydration
- Disease such as Chronic Wasting Disease, Lyme disease, bluetongue, Foot and Mouth Disease, and Hemorrhagic disease
- Parasites such as tapeworms, nasal bot flies and brainworms (a form of roundworm that affects the brain)
- Natural predators such as coyotes, bears, wolves, cougars, tigers, wild dogs, etc. (what predators a deer has depends on its species)
- Stress or panic attacks, especially when trapped
