Is concentrated solution of sodium chloride poisonous to animals?

Salt can be very deadly towards animals as they

predominantly cant control the amount they absorb. High doses in domestic animals such as dogs and cats can kill within a couple hours. Plants on the other hand can control what nutrients and ions they absorb therefore 'it is not bad for plants' unless they are used in vast quantities.
