What is apparent digestibility?

Apparent digestibility is the percentage of feed retained by an animal. This can be calculated by measuring amount of feed intake and amount of fecal excretions and using the following equation:

((nutrient intake - fecal excretions) / nutrient intake) X 100%

*Feed intake and fecal excretions are usually measured by weight.
