Why is Burger King a franchise and Walmart is not?

BURGER KING is a franchise because the original starters of the restaurants James McLamore & David Edgerton in Miami, FL made it that way.

Walmart (or Gaymart as I like to call it) is a worldly-known supermarket because back in 1967 Sam Walton (a guy from Bentonville, ARKANSAS) made it that way.
