Baby Narwhals, known as calves, are typically born in the spring after a gestation period of about 16 months. At birth, they weigh around 110 pounds and measure about 5 feet in length. Narwhal calves rely on their mothers for milk for up to 20 months, and during this time, they learn essential survival skills.
