Does miracle fruit work

Miracle fruit is the berry of the plant Synsepalum dulcificum which makes sour foods taste sweet. At certain parties, people take miracle fruit and then ingest typically unappetizing foods, ranging from limes to hot sauce. This practice is referred to as "taste tripping". The fruit (and tablets made from the fruit) are available online from several vendors. Local gardens sometimes also sell S. dulcificum plants.
