What does refusal to buy items in order to show disapproval mean?

Means you don't agree with the company or policy of the people producing the item. There are stores I won't shop in because of their policy towards their workers and other things. I don't want my money to support a business that I disagree with and this is my personal refusal to buy items from that type of company.
