How can you put a story in your own context?

Simply, change 'once upon a time' to 'today', 'in a land far away' to 'on my street', 'ferocious dragon' to 'mean dog'. Change the characters, setting and actions to those that pertain to 'you'. Oh, yes...'happily ever after' to 'who knows what will happen'
