How was the role of Hollywood during World War 2?

Hollywood supported the war effort by making films which helped to keep up morale on the home front. Many of these films were patriotic in nature. Quite a few Hollywood actors left their film careers to serve in the armed forces. Other Hollywood personalities participated in War Bond tours or went to the front lines to entertain the troops. Many actresses did duty at U.S.O. clubs and servicemen's canteens. Ronald Reagan made army training films. John Ford headed a Navy combat photographic unit.
