Who sailed all around the world in 1522?

Ferdinand Magellan's expedition, which began in 1519, is credited with the first circumnavigation of the globe, although Magellan himself did not complete the journey. He was killed in the Philippines in 1521, and the expedition was completed by Juan Sebastián Elcano. The remaining crew returned to Spain in 1522 aboard the ship Victoria, marking the first successful voyage around the world.
