What does it mean when you dream of food that suddenly vanishes before your eyes?

Food is often representative of hunger, desire, or needs. You may feel trapped or like you can never get ahead, or that you are in a hopeless situation. You could be in debt or poverty in real life, or you simply have a cynical view on life. So there you are in the dream feeling quite hungry. There is a whole table of food which can fill that hunger, and as you grasp for it, it is gone. What could be used to fill a need that you have gets taken from you before you can make use of it.

Metaphorically speaking, this could represent any area of life. Perhaps you long for love. Maybe you met someone who you felt could help meet that need, only for them to tell you they would rather be with someone else. Maybe you went on a gambling binge, only to lose everything rather than hit the jackpot. Or this could be a fear to reach ahead for your needs or desires, since in your mind, the things you really want or need can never truly be obtained, and someone or something will take them from you anyway.
